Hyaluronic acid

This is a natural polysaccharide and one of the mucopolysaccharide acids found in the fundamental substances between skin cells. This acid, discovered in the vitreous humour of bull's eyes, is a substance which ensures connective cell cohesion because of its viscosity, a particularly important function for the skin.

Product Properties

The parameters which characterise the unique properties of Hyaluronic acid are its very high molecular weight and large volume, which causes the molecular spaces occupied by the individual Hyaluronic acid molecules to be covered by a film. This leads to the assumption of large-scale interpretation of the chains and their interactions. it is this interwoven mesh of polymers that serves as the medium, much like a gel, for tissue functions. The interweaving of provoking water retention and acting as a molecular sponge.

Hyaluronic acid may be obrained from natural substances, or through bioengineering methods by a bacterial fermentation process. Natural substances rich in Hyaluronic acid include, amonth others, cock's comb, shark's fin and umbilical cord.

One of the most important qualities of Hyaluronic acid-based technology consists of its high degree of safety as a biomaterial.

Because of its visco-elastic qualities, it has become a basic component of high-risk surgical techniques (ocular and intraocular surgery) in the creation and maintenance of spaced with high vitreous pressure: traumatisms of the anterior chamber, corneal transplants, etc. Its high degree of viscosity, tolerance and compatibility offer unique characteristics when compared with other products used in eye surgery.

In itself, it exercises no pharmacological activity whatsoever.

Effects and Indications

The viscogel used in mesotherapy is a non-recticulated synthetically obtain product. It is not indicated as filler due to granuloma risk, only superficial injectection are indicated. This hyaluronic acid is used for wrinkle, scars, hydration etc.

Secondary effects

The periode immediately after injection is characterised by a transitory oedema and the injection marks, which are reabsorbed within 24-48 hours.

The complications recorded so far include: prolonged erythema or a slight disolouring of the treated area, or even irregular skin contours, which is easily corrected by moulding the substance with the fingers.

Administration standards

A skin allergy test is not required before treatment with this new polysaccharide-based substance.

Treatment consists of between six and ten applications at intervals of 7-15 days. Maintenance is on a monthly basis. Viscogel serves as a temporary filler and is slowly reabsorbed, however, as the established doses are applied, it provokes the stimulation and neo-formation of the collagen itself.

To transfer the viscogel to the syringe, first nject air into the upturned phial, this will help push the hyaluronic acid gel when extracting it with the syringe.
It can be mixed with DMAE, Vit C, Asian Centella, Silicium Organic.
